The annual PrintWeek Award’s, held on 20th October at Grosvenor House, saw manroland sheet and web press users walk away with an impressive total of seven industry awards, including the coveted PrintWeek Company of the Year, won by York Mailing. The company, also PrintWeek’s Environmental Printer of the Year in 2007, has a printing arsenal that includes a four-unit manroland LITHOMAN IIIS 48pp heat-set press, and was in good company on the night with fellow manroland users, Pindar and Benson Group completing the short-list for the industry’s premier print award.

The latter was in recognition of the exceptional Ferrari magazine, produced on Crayford’s manroland 700 DirectDrive press – the UK’s first DirectDrive machine. Demonstrating its clear leadership in the newspaper sector, manroland was again at the fore with Trafford Park Printers taking the honours in the Newspaper Printer of the Year section for its printing of The Guardian.
manroland users also featured prominently in the short-list for the 2008 Catalogue Printer of the Year with the eventual winner, Southernprint and the three other finalists all using manroland technology. Southernprint then claimed its second prize later in the evening with a win in the Consumer Magazine Printer of the Year – another category well represented by manroland users including Pindar, Precision Colour Printing, St Ives Web Peterborough, and St Ives Web Plymouth.
Finally, the SMP Group rounded off a hugely successful evening for manroland’s customers with its success in the Poster Printer of the Year category, where it was praised for its work with lenticular technology. SMP’s litho lineup includes a manroland 900XXL large-format sheetfed press.
Commenting on another excellent evening for the industry, Norman Revill, Managing Director of manroland GB, said: “The PrintWeek Awards ceremony is always a great opportunity for all of us to take real pride in the industry and truly recognise once again the critical role print plays in the wider economy. It’s also great to see our manroland customers represented right across the printing spectrum, from those using our larger format and cut-sheet machines serving the commercial print sector, right up to our web presses for the newspaper industry.
“All the finalists embody the very best the industry has to offer. This is a sector full of dedicated, creative professionals who are passionate about print. These Awards give us all an occasion to stand up and honour outstanding, innovative print, and it’s always a great pleasure to see so many of our manroland customers being awarded for their hard work and excellence.”
