manroland Enters B3 Market with ROLAND 50
manroland has announced that it will launch the new sheetfed ROLAND 50 press at the forthcoming Drupa 2008 exhibition, thus expanding its product range with a B3 format machine. Dr. Markus Rall (Member of the Executive Board, Business Sector Sheetfed Presses) explained: “The international market in 36/52 format is bigger than the market for large format presses.”
Early information suggests that the ROLAND 50 will be available for delivery from the Autumn, and will be provided in two, five and six colour configurations. Full details on the machine, along with pricing information will be released at the show.
Commenting on the release of the new machine, Gary Doman, Sales Director for manroland GB is excited about the potential of the machine in the UK market: “This will be a well made machine with high-end press fea-tures, that is likely to be suited to both those companies specialising in the B3 market, and larger printers looking to add a small format capability.”
XXL technology in B3 format All presses from manroland correspond to the strategy of Value Added Printing, which is designed to increase production efficiency and product value. That is why developers of the Roland 50 were assigned the task of creating “XXL technology in 36/52 format.” Klemens Kemmerer, director of research and development at manroland, reports: “For many years, fur-ther development of smaller presses was also a case of thinking in small categories. We wanted to integrate the quality features of our large presses into the ROLAND 50 and open up new perspectives for printers in the 36/52 format class.” manroland is the only press manufacturer in the world to offer customers a universal press platform encompassing for-mats from B3 all the way through to XXL.
Big technology, big perspectives “I’m sorry, but I can’t do that.” This is a sentence that you will now hear less and less from printers. With the ROLAND 50’s technology, printers can produce on a new level and secure new business deals. An especially convincing feature in this format class is its print quality and printing substrate flexibility. Double-size impression cylinders and transferters ensure mark-free sheet travel and thus excellent print quality. When it comes to printing substrates, manroland defies all conventions – and is proud of it.
Substrates of 0.04 to 0.8 millimeters can be processed, freeing the printer of cumbersome restrictions. Its robust modular design, one-man ease of use, degree of automation, and optional network connections further distinguish the ROLAND 50.
