manroland GB launches "Printing Classics" campaign to search for the UK's oldest running manroland press

ROLAND Ultra 1950 manroland Great Britain has today announced the launch of its “Printing Classics” campaign which aims to find the UK’s oldest operational manroland press. The campaign, which will culminate with an official prize giving ceremony on the manroland stand at IPEX 2010, hopes to demonstrate the true strength and diversity of manroland’s printing technology and give some well-deserved recognition to manroland customers throughout the UK who form part of the backbone of the industry.

Says Norman Revill, Managing Director, manroland GB: “manroland presses are renowned for being hardworking and reliable so our Printing Classics campaign is a great way to show exactly how well these machines perform in the field, day in and day out, year after year. It also gives us a real chance to celebrate the often unsung heroes of the print industry and the variety of innovative products that they print using manroland presses. To this end, throughout the duration of the campaign, we will be looking to draw the industry’s attention to those customers who are striving to make a difference by producing something especially interesting or unique with their manroland press.”

ROLAND REKORD The Printing Classics campaign is open to owners of ROLAND Rekord, Favorit, Parva, Ultra, ROLAND 600 and ROLAND 800 presses. Those wishing to enter should go to the campaign’s dedicated webpage, where they will be able to register their press and outline the type of work they are producing on it. All those who register will receive VIP entry to IPEX 2010 courtesy of manroland, where they will also be able to experience the company’s renowned corporate hospitality. The owner of the press judged to be the oldest manroland in the UK will win a weekend for two to a top European destination.

Says Gary Doman, Sheetfed Sales Director, manroland GB: “We’re all very excited about the launch of this campaign and I’m sure it will throw up some incredibly interesting machines and applications. Features that are now considered standard, such as pneumatic side-lays and vacuum feeder boards, made presses like the Rekord, Favorit and Ultra cutting edge in the 1970s and the fact that some are still operating in a commercial capacity, and in daily use, is a source of immense pride for manroland. It is testament to their design and engineering that after all this time they remain a profitable production solution for customers.”
