manroland calls Northprint 2011 a positive step forward for the industry

manroland GB has declared Northprint 2011 a great success and an important step forward towards a more positive future for the UK printing industry in 2011. The manroland stand was busy throughout the three days of the show, with the team receiving a number of new enquires and confirmations for press orders. Very positive feedback was also received from visitors on the opening of manroland’s new regional printcom division office in Kettering and the signing of an exclusive UK distribution deal with Lubetech for its environmental spill control solutions.

Says Norman Revill, Managing Director, manroland GB: “Northprint was a great show for manroland and it gave us an excellent opportunity to meet with many of our customers and reinforce the messages of our Secrets of Profitable Print campaign – that we are here to work with our customers to add value to their businesses and help them maximise their investment in manroland technology, and it was clear from discussions with visitors that this message is really getting through. Just like Ipex, the quality of the visitors was outstanding and we generated a number of very positive leads right across our commercial sheetfed, printservices and printcom divisions.”

This was a view supported by manroland customer, Ian Dodds, Managing Director of Billingham Press: “It was clear walking around the halls at Northprint on Wednesday that the industry is once again growing in confidence and printers are out there to make capital investments again, which is great news. It was good to catch up with the team on the manroland stand as well and discuss the latest developments on the printcom side of the business. Exhibitions really help the commercial relationship between suppliers and their customers, as it’s a chance to catch up away from the pressure of the office in a more informal capacity.”

manroland had over 100 entries for its on-stand competition to guess the number of B1 blankets it would take to cover the floorspace of the Northprint exhibition. David Dalton from Nampak Leeds was drawn from the correct entries on the last day of the show and won a trip for two to Drupa 2012 including return flights and one night’s accommodation.

The manroland team was also on hand at the PrintIT 2011 Awards to award the winner, Nur Nurmahomed, from Beauchamp College in Leicestershire, with the manroland-sponsored prize of an all expenses paid trip to visit manroland’s renowned Print Technology Centre and sheetfed press manufacturing facility in Offenbach, Germany.
