Dobson & Crowther

Dobson & Crowther Ltd. are the largest producers of bespoke Litho printed envelopes in the UK. Established in 1904, the business moved to Llangollen in 1946 and was eventually acquired by Smurfit Packaging UK in 1973. The business has now reverted to its original name following an MBO in March 2006. Dobson & Crowther manufacture in excess of half a billion printed envelopes annually, this encompasses, Direct Mail, horticultural seed pockets, photographic systems bags, wallets mailers and school photograph envelopes. Mobile phone and ink jet cartridge recycling mailer bags, charity and jewellery pockets are also produced on site. At drupa 2008 Dobson & Crowther announced details of a £2.5 million investment of a five-colour plus coater version of a size 6 ROLAND 900 press. Dobson & Crowther’s expanding environmental focus meant the press was configured to run alcohol free from day one, this meant the ability to produce high gloss coating without the environmental issues associated with UV.

Guardian News & Media

The Guardian broke the mould with regard to both format and colour content for a British daily newspaper in September 2005, when it released its new Berliner sized publication.

The launch was heralded as the start of a new phase in production for the British daily, with colour now the driving factor; colour on every single page of the newspaper. At the heart of the new publication were manroland COLORMAN web presses installed in East London and Trafford Park, Manchester.

KEP Print Group

Tamworth-based KEP Print Group prides itself on handling all elements of a print project in house. With large format sheet production in mind, the company made its largest ever press purchase when it installed a five-unit ROLAND 900XXL size-8 machine, in an investment valued at over £2 million.

The machine joined existing ROLAND 200 and ROLAND 700 models. Managing Director Mark Plowman is proud of his long standing relationship with manroland.
